Uh oh…the flu has come to my house.

The achy-all-over, coughing, snotty nose, fever kind of flu. So I whipped up my favorite concoction and have been making the sickies around me sip on it all day.

I’ve been drinking it too because it has great immune boosting properties. (Mama’s gotta stay healthy!)

Here’s all you do:

  1. Boil yourself about 1 1/2 cups of water or enough to fill your coffee cup.
  2. Peel a one-inch cube of fresh ginger and press it with your garlic press directly into your cup so you get all those juices as well as the pulp.
  3. Squeeze ¼ of a lemon into your cup.
  4. Drop in 2 to 3 drops of liquid cayenne, stir and sip!
  5. If you have a sore throat, add a tablespoon of honey for its soothing properties.

Ginger has anti-viral, anti-bacterial properties, lemon has vitamin C to help kick that flu and cayenne aids in getting rid of that congested mucus (yuck!) from your system, which brings relief from those unpleasant cold/flu symptoms.

You might want to have a little food when you’re sipping on this elixir as it can be hard on the tummy.

Cheers! Keep that immune system humming!
